1979 brought what I considered one of the coolest show on TV to air at that time, BJ and the Bear.
As Brody in Mallrats said a little over 25 years later, “Now there’s a concept I can’t get enough of, a man and his monkey.”
I think my favorite episodes were the two parter from season 2 called, “Snow White and the Seven Lady Truckers”. It featured Andre The Giant who was a childhood hero of mine. The thought of being able to hang out with Andre the Giant in a truck stop out west, and drive around with a monkey seemed like a great idea for a future career plan.
Besides Andre, the series had a cast of memorable guest characters including Stacks (Judy Landers), Sheriff Lobo (Claude Akins).
Also the show had one of the best theme songs to come out of the 1970’s:
